Hysterectomy is a surgical procedure to remove a uterus. It is done for different reasons like fibroid uterus, prolapse uterus, abnormal uterine bleeding, adenomyosis, endometriosis, cancer of uterus, cervix, and ovaries, etc. The hysterectomy approach can vary from open hysterectomy to minimal invasive approaches like vaginal hysterectomy, laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy, or total laparoscopic hysterectomy. Whether to remove ovaries along with hysterectomy varies from case to case. These days in case of benign disease of the uterus, hysterectomy should be done only when all the conservative measures have failed. A lot of emphasis should be given to the same uterus. In the case of gynecological problems, meet a gynecologist who is experienced enough to treat each case on an individual basis as one treatment doesn't suit all.
