Prolapse Uterus occurs when the pelvic floor muscles and ligaments weaken and can't provide support for the uterus any longer. Prolapse uterus can occur due to pregnancy, childbirth, difficult labor, and delivery, or due to weakened muscles. Women, as they age, begin to lose the hormone- estrogen that causes the uterus to drop into the vaginal canal. The sagging of the uterus can broadly be in four degrees. In the first degree, the cervix drops into the vagina. In the second degree, the cervix drops to the level just inside the opening of the vagina. In the third degree of prolapse uterus, the cervix is outside the vagina. In the last and final degree of prolapse uterus, the entire uterus is outside the vagina. Early stages of prolapse uterus can be taken care of by perineal exercises alone. But as severity increases surgery became mandatory. Don't suffer in silence, consult your gynecologist today.
